The latest ‘thing’ going around NY is the number of flatmate advertisements on craigslist that offer rent subsidies in return for sexual favors.
Like this ad: “Bubbly hassle-free roommate wanted” reads one ad where for $580 per month (cheap kids), a lucky person (assume female wanted) can share an upper West Side studio with a ‘fun, easygoing young male professional’ who is willing to reduce the rent if you have ’special skills’ like massage.
Or this one: ‘rich single heterosexual guy requests a live-in personal assistant who will enjoy a $2,000 apartment in exchange for cooking, cleaning and running errands as well as helping me stretch, giving me massages and walking on my back because I’m really stiff.’
How awkward.
