A Couple Of Things I’ve Noticed Tonight….

I’ve been watching free to air TV -

Idol: why does Australia always seem to vote off the most attractive women from these types of shows???? Remember Jennifer Hawkins in Dancing With The Stars? In response to her very early departure from the show, the media claimed that women at home couldn’t stand their partnes watching her sex it up on the small screen. A very attractive girl was just voted off Idol - just saying….

90210: This show was my compass during my late teenage years (!) I wouldn’t let my daughter watch this show in a million years now (well, if she was old enough to understand it - at 1.5 years old, I doubt I have to worry). I’m wondering if the show was always this vacuous and tedious and I never realised (which is saying something for my state of mind back then) or has it gone down hill?

The young girls are SOOOOOOO skinny that a child protection agency should be called onto the set to investigate neglect. These girls are meant to be, what? 16-18? Crazy role modeling. And, I just heard a teacher telling the girls to perform like their ‘privates are on fire’. WTF? Turning off, can’t cope. Oh, before I go - Shannen Doherty looks incredibly old. Plastic surgery gone wrong or has she been lit up to make her look really really old? Jenny Garth looks about 5 years younger by comparison.

Sarah Palin - Matt Damon Sums It Up

The prospect of Sarah Palin becoming President Palin scares the absolute hell out of me. As Matt says here in this interview, more people need to be talking about how absurd this prospect is. So talk about it. Please. It’s outrageous. Her as leader of the free world????? You have absolutely got to be kidding.

The Venice Film Festival Looks A Great Place To Be….

And don’t you just love that Shannen Doherty has been back in 90210 for five minutes and she’s already making headlines for all the wrong reasons (!) The bitch is back.

Modifying The Weather (!)

A friend was over at my place on the weekend, fresh off the plane from covering the Olympics for one of the papers here. She was telling me the most frightening story about the Chinese using rockets to blast into the sky to fend off pending rain. I was in disbelief and thought that she must have been a. overworked and tired or b. on a bender and not lucid. When I asked her this, she said no, she had heard the rockets herself. I deduced then that the answer must have indeed been ‘b’. No, it was neither as I just found out from a quick search on the subject.  Sadly, the story is absolutely true.

You can read about it here: http://www.universetoday.com/2008/08/12/the-chinese-weather-manipulation-missile-olympics/

Something just doesn’t seem right about messing with nature in this way. Not only that, there is something deeply disturbing about the lengths the Chinese government have gone to, to create an illusion of perfection. They didn’t need to be perfect - the world would have thought so much better of them, if they were just real.

As if the rockets didn’t rock my mind enough - they actually do have a ‘Beijing Weather MODIFICATION Office.’ WTF?? Do we have one?
