Hi there!

We're building a new website over at <www.melissaseymour.com>. Fairly soon, I'll be blogging and vlogging from over there. If you like, you can watch as we build it, making changes every day. My L'umiere team are doing a superb job on it and I don't know what to be more excited about at the moment - the website, my new MacBook Pro or the fact that I'm about to file my very first story for Network 10. I'm thankful for it all.

If I could just get my health back..... more on that soon.

My heart is swelling with pride this morning as I watch the Anzac Day March - for both the Anzac's who fought with, then, typical Australian 'gutso' (I say then, because I'm not so sure it exists anymore as a majority of our Nation) and their families. Watching them reminds me of my Grandparents and all that they embodied.

Leading the march is the gorgeous Marie Bashir, our Governor General. She has been a role model of mine for many years and luckily for me just happens to be one of my dearest friends Aunt.

Today everyone should hold their head up high. We have much to be proud and grateful for.

Because I am watching the news right now and there isn't much going on in the world to smile about.......

1. One of my son Jonah's godfather's has offered to take him to the Easter Show - Jonah, aged 6 is a veteran. Heath, aged 28 is not. Quite a Sucker (a lovely sucker but one nonetheless)

2. On a rare outing (I've been very sick, that post was taken down for reason's that will become apparent in time) I had my daughter (aged 2) and was carrying a number of bags. I kid you not, she flew into a kiddie designer boutique, had a look around, found a top she liked and proceeded to undress in the middle of the shop and had the attendant put the top on her. The fun began when we tried to take the top off her. No. Way. Known. With my depleted energy levels and inability to successfully negotiate with her (i.e. rip the top off her), I had to fork out. Here is the funny part.. it cost $120. Mum's a Sucker!

3. This isn't funny, just plain weird (to some). At times I have to share my make up with my husband. Maybe that is funny. It's because when he works for Sky News, they don't have a make up artist so he has to do his own. So he gets into my Shu umura - he has his own sponge - and now, unbenowkns to moi, he had found some Mac powder and brush. Now, I use my brush for a multitude of uses - bronzer, blush and for eyelids. I love my brush and I have a new one thanks to Saskia having put the last one in the toilet. So when I couldn't find my beloved (and expensive) brush today, I went a little tropo. No one claimed to know where it was, so I used a much less capable old ratty thing and went about my day. You'll never guess where I found it? In said husbands car. When I asked him EVER SO NICELY! why he denied knowledge of this, this morning when I was tearing the house appart screaming 'where is my brush, has anyone seen my brush', he said 'sorry darling, I didn't know you meant THAT brush'. So now we have new boundaries around my things - he is to ask before removing anything that is clearly MINE! Mmmm, reading that back makes me sound like I may have a few issues going on there....... looking like I'm a Sucker - again (but I'm aportioning some of the suckering to Brad for taking the makeup thing too far).

BUT SUCKER OF THE WEEK, HAS TO GO TO FIJI - Good on you Fiji! Don't like a democracy? Oh, just go and throw everyone out of the country that upholds it. Thank thank thank thank thank GOD we didn't buy that island to build that resort there. THANKYOU!

Have you heard? There is a church on the ground of the Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney which is going to pull down its crucifixes etc.. so they don't offend people of other faith who may want to use the church to pray. Well god dame it, I couldn't agree more! I personally would tick the box of 'spiritual'. When I had my recent lengthy stay at hospital (not RNS), I was looking for a quiet space to meditate. Couldn't find it. So I welcome a beautiful church that is clear of other faiths, where you can go for some quiet respite. You certainly can't get peace and quiet in your own room, especially when they're monitoring you every hour or so (taking blood pressure, temperature etc.) and they come storming in without consideration to your being awake or asleep. Or this one is the best, when the doctors start their rounds before 7am - they give you heavy duty tranquillizers to sleep then expect you to hold an intelligent conversation before 7am!!!!

So good on RNS. I would have made their beautiful, faith free space, my sanctuary!

Do you look poorly at the people who are in them - not the papped stories, the ones who actually do an interview - like Sonia Kruger has done this week on New Idea?

They're obviously pushing something - celebrity, profile, new books, tv shows the list goes on.

I'm in this space at the moment and never having been here before, it's really strange. Some friends are all for my story (that's why I pulled the sad sick story down) and others think it's really tacky. Me? I think if the message helps other women, empowers them, then yes.

I'll keep you updated ;)

Two articles today that just inspired me to blog....

I wanted to address Nadia Suleman (aka Octomum) before and an article in The Daily Telegraph (Aust.) about someone trashing her car just inspired me to have a say....

I've watched a couple of interviews with her. She seems quite normal and articulate. At least a far cry from what the media have painted her to be. And the shame name the media has given her (Octomum)- how belittling and unnecessary (!) And don't you just love that they describe her as "Ms Suleman, an unemployed single mother of 14" - hello!!!! Take out the unemployed for gods sake. The woman has a job - looking after 14 children. What do they want her to do? Go wait tables in her spare time? I could go on and on about this for ages and ages... but just one final point that shat me earlier this week when she made headlines for dismissing a mother helper/nanny or whatever, because she didn't think she was right or doing her job properly. Just because she is receiving help, does not mean she has to accept second rate help with her precious babies. Mothers usually have a gut feeling for who is right to look after their babies and she seems like an incredibly devoted mother to me. So she had 6 babies she did not mean to have - it's done, over, the babies are here. Now let's move on and give her the support she needs. In my mind she is supermum - 14 (!!!!!) 2 is where my capabilities stop.

And this little diddy research item (in short): "to women, being funny apparently makes men seem more intelligent, trustworthy, a better bet for a relationship." "Men who want a woman with a sense of humour really mean someone who will laugh at their jokes."

I was browsing the net, checking for any new publicity on my book..... when I came across this very cool item about blogs to watch for 2009. I know you know what's coming next - yes, this blog was named on there (!) Obviously blogging with regularity was not a criteria for consideration.

The article in question came from WE magazine for women. <http://wemagazineforwomen.com/101-women-bloggers-to-watch-for-2009> sorry about the links not working here - if you are a regular (which would be a miracle considering the irregularity with which I post), you might recall that I was going to switch my blog over to another host because of this very reason. Anyway, I didn't because clearly I am not that devoted.

After reading the article though, and with a few new exciting projects in the pipeline, I just might get my arse into gear and make this into something really fantabulous!

Only time will tell huh!

Thanks WE magazine for women, I feel honored and especially excited since you are located in the States and my book just may be sold over there this year (!!!!) If you have visited this blog from the link on the WE blog, then pretty please go to the Amazon website and request my book. You don't have to buy it, just put in a request. The more requests for it, the more likely they'll pick it up.

Here is a link, even though it may not work (just copy and paste into your browser if it doesn't).... <http://www.amazon.com/Girls-Guide-Turning-Your-Business/dp/1921024151/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1233394459&sr=8-2>

I would just love to do a book tour of the States this year!

just yesterday and I was so excited to get to Graydon Carter's editors letter (as usual after about 100 pages of advertising) to read what he had to say about Sarah Palin. Nothing there though. Damn. But my disappointment lasted only 10 mins until I jumped onto the vanity fair website and found, right there on the home page, the November issue Editors Letter. Yes, the November issue is out in the USA and we are only getting October delivered this week.

Here it is:
